Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?
It's easy to move around in a light double pushchair, particularly if you have children of varying age groups. They are generally easy to steer, fold and transport up and down the stairs.
This City Mini GT2 offers side-by-side seats with plenty of legroom and reclining that can be adjusted. It also has huge UPF 50+ canopies with windows that peek out. It also comes with a smart frame that can expand in width to accommodate a second car seat and a compatible car seat(s).

Side-by-Side
The majority of the light double pushchairs that we tested were side-by-side models. These are the best for children who can stand up without assistance, as they tend to lack compatibility with car seats. The Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and the Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double, are both excellent options. They have adjustable recline for both seats, a big canopy, and padded 5-point safety harnesses. They're also easy to move despite their larger footprints, and are ideal for parents who are worried about fitting into doorways.
The Cybex Duet is a little different because its clever frame expands in width to accommodate a second seat, making it smaller than other pushchairs with side-by-side seating available. It is able to fit through doors that are standard and is easy to maneuver on public transportation. It also doubles as a jogger, which is ideal if you plan to use it in conjunction with an infant car seat or baby carrier.
The UPPAbaby Vista v2 double is another excellent lightweight side-by-side double. It offers additional flexibility due to a modular frame. It's a clever design that allows you to transform it into a single buggy or a double by adding 2 carrycots or car seats (it can even take twins). It's a fantastic and practical choice for families that are growing, and the UPPAbaby also is one of the lightest and most stylish umbrella strollers around.
If you're looking for a compact and lightweight double, you can try the egg2 which folds to the size of a compact suitcase. It can be used either as a single or double by adding two baby car seats or carrycots. Our home testers were impressed with the ease of move around, even with a full load of children.
Even though they are lightweight double pushchairs side-by-side are not foolproof. If your children are of the same age and stage, they could still argue over who sits in which seat. And if they're at different heights it could be that a tandem design might be better for them, as it lets them confront each other.
Tandem
While side-by-side models are best suited to siblings with similar age, tandem lightweight double strollers come with their own appeal. Some can accommodate an extra car seat, while some have Reversible seats. Others even have an additional carrycot or convertible seat in the middle. They are bigger, and easier to get into and out of. However their baskets tend to be smaller than the ones found on buggies that are single. They also have larger large canopies that have peekaboo windows, as well as one parent cup holder and padded leg cushions for young children.
The iCandy Peach tandem is another great example of a lightweight tandem that provides an excellent value. The fabric is a bit less luxurious than those of some of our top-rated doubles. However, it still looks fantastic and is simple to use. One of the most impressive things about it is its single-handed fold. Although it requires practice, Kirstie in our Lab declared it to be "genius". The carrycot is not foldable while it's attached. However, the mechanism to attach and remove the carrycot is simple and quick.
Tandem double pushchairs are light and lightweight. They generally have tighter turns than side-by-side models, but they can be more challenging to drive over uneven surfaces and curbs. They can also be slower to accelerate and are heavier to move. This can put strain on your back.
A convertible double buggy is a different alternative. It's initially an individual however, you can add adapters to make it double. These can include the option of a second seat or carrycot in the front, or the children can be seated side-by-side. Some have the option of including a buggyboard, which helps an older child keep pace with younger siblings or brothers.
The Uppababy Vista V2 can be transformed into a twin-sized pushchair by purchasing additional cocoons at PS59 each. These cocoons create an area that is flat for newborns. They can be positioned on top of each other or positioned to each other's faces and you can also use them in conjunction with the infant car seat that comes with the pushchair (as long as you choose an appropriate one). As they're made with quality materials, these kinds of dual-use buggies can often be used for a long time without displaying much wear, indicating they have the highest potential for resale.
double pram pushchair -to-Double

We loved the way that this iCandy model folds down with just one hand, making it very easy to master. It's heavier than other single-to double pushchair s, but our home test Karolina says it's still very capable of maneuvering even with two toddlers and the carrycot.
The seat can be used parent-facing, and you can also buy add-ons for this stroller like the Roma Gemini carrycots (PS100 each), which are ideal for babies. Our test panel found that the seats to be comfortable for toddlers and had good lumbar support and headrests. There are numerous options for reclined seats with the front seat can be adjusted to different positions, and the back seat having an option to recline.
This type of buggy comes with the biggest disadvantage of being larger than the side-by-side doubles. This makes it difficult to maneuver through doorways, and it can be difficult to get up and down kerbs. The suspension and wheels of these types of strollers are generally good at coping with paved surfaces. They're also lighter than many side-by-sides and, therefore, you can have plenty of storage space. It's important to remember that strollers of this type aren't as good at getting through narrow aisles in supermarkets, and may struggle to cope with a lot of shopping. Although it's much easier to turn the stroller on a narrow, curving path, this can still be a problem. Some are more easy to turn than others, such as the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double or Baby Trend Sit N' Stand Double.
Convertible
The great thing about convertible double pushchairs is that they are able to adapt to a family's changing needs. Often, they start as single buggies. They have adapters that allow you to add a second child's seat or carrycot, or (in some cases) the car seat to the frame. Some are able to be converted to a single buggie when your older child starts to walk or wants to ride a buggyboard.

It also comes with a handy cup holder for the parent and a large, easy-to access basket. They also noted that the backs have tiny pockets, that are just large enough to hold a phone and a set of keys.

This versatile tandem is a popular choice among our home testers for its easy-to-maneuver size and impressively large shopping basket that is accessible from both seats facing towards the parent. It is a breeze to move around due to its low weight (about the same as a few single pushchairs). Many users praise the clever way it attaches the second seat or riding board in the back. Parents also liked the fact that it can accommodate infant carriers and car seats from various brands, including some that don't normally fit in other double buggies.
